| Mustangs Seven Game Win Streak Hits Midnight Vs Louisville Trinity In Ugly Contest 44-26 The Shamrocks Advance To Face Pendleton County In 5th/3rd Finals on Thursday |
| The Brossart Mustangs will head home on Thursday morning after a bittersweet week spent among the best competition in the Bluegrass. We were dominant vs Clay County and impressive in coming back vs Lexington Catholic, but lost our collective composure vs Louisville Trinity falling 44-26 to the Shamrocks in the 5th/3rd semi-finals on Wednesday Night. The Mustangs, who put together a rally to upset LexCath on Tuesday, never-ever got untracked vs the 12-1 Shamrocks falling behind 16-12 at the half and 30-17 after three periods. Credit the defensive efforts of the Rocks for styming the Mustang offensive efforts, and their size and girth for controlling the boards. The shots which fell for the first two days of the tournament failed to hit their marks with any consistency last night. The Mustangs recorded no three point goals in the contest, marred with numerous turnovers and misplays on both sides of the ledger. To sum it us - It was a very ugly ballgame. While we will write the Trinity loss off as a bad experience, the aftermath may have far-reaching effects, as the already short-handed Mustangs will now go into the MCIT without the services of our remaining battleship, Evan McDole who was ejected at the start of the third quarter after throwing an elbow in a scramble for a loose ball. Brossart High School has worked extremely hard over the past decade to earn respect and build a well-deserved reputation as a high-class program that schools, venues, and tournaments like to have participate in their tournaments. Unfortunately, in the aftermath of the McDole ejection, a negative reation was triggered among a few of our fans and students resulting in a bad situation that has caused a black eye for our program. It will be addressed and every effort will be made in the future to avoid a re-occurance of the events which took place Wednesday night at Lexington Catholic High School. No Mustang managed double figures. Evan McDole was our top point-getter with 8 points. Mr. Tim Cooper has provided me with three CDs of pictures from this weeks tournament games. I will put together a picture page within the next few days reflecting our play here in the 5th/3rd tournament.
