| For three quarters the Brossart Mustangs were not at all on the top of their game vs the Lexiington Catholic Knights while on centerstage in the freature game of the Fifth-Third Bank Classic on Tuesday night. | of defeat, winning our seventh game of the new season 50-42 to advance to the final-four of the Fifth-Third Bank Classic on Wednesday at 8:30pm vs Louisville Trinity. The 7-0 start is the best in school history. The first quarter was unremarkable with the exception of the Mustangs being tied 9-9 with the Knights despite being outplayed. LexCath hit on four field-goals to the Mustangs one, while Brossart hit seven free-thows to keep it even. LexCath won the second period 16-13 despite 9 points from Evan McDole who had 11 in the book by intermission. The expected Mustang rally following the break failed to materialize as LexCath surged to an eleven point bulge 40-29, outscoring the guys in green 15-7 and it began to look a lot like the Mustangs were headed to their first loss of the season and a trip to the "consolation bracket." It was then that the Mustangs returned to form, turning up the heat on defense, allowing only a single field-goal while putting up 21 hitting on 11 of 15 from the free-throw line to rise from the ashes 50-42. The Mustangs forced 25 LexCath turnovers and held the Knights to 27% shooting from the field in the second half.
