Coach Schabell, I first saw Nathan play when I was a sophomore at Brossart (89-90) and you conned me into keeping score Saturday morning for the grade school league at St. Mary’s for $3.00 an hour. One morning I was keeping score for a sixth grade game between St. Peter and Paul and another opponent. Nathan checked in at the table and shot four 3 pointers from the top of the key in less than a minute, making all four shots. At the end of the quarter the referee ran over to the table and asked who that young kid was and why he didn’t start? The St. Peter & Paul coach said his name is Nathan Seiter and he is only in the fourth grade. I think he broke my school scoring record in his first two games as a freshman. I am a Brossart promoter and Nathan made it very easy to promote Brossart. Condolences to the Seiter and Brossart family. Tim and Amy Machenheimer
The first time I realized who Nathan was, was the night he made that halfcourt shot to beat CovCath. My sister was good friends with him, and I met him through her. He always treated me with great respect and love, and I was just his friend's kid brother. I was quite the little guy at the time, (1997-1998), so he gave me the oh so clever nickname of "Big Man." Nathan was an amazing person and even though I only knew him just a little, I will always remember him for his great kindness and compasssion Christopher D. Farris
Nathan Seiter was an amazing athlete and an amazing person. I looked up to him personally as a role model for i have known him and Brad and the Seiter family around 7 years or so. I will never forget playing basketball against Nathan in the driveway along with Brad and learning everything i could possibly learn from him. Keep the whole Seiter family in your prayers. Adam Franzen
All of the Seiters are very nice people. They always have smiles on their faces. Now, Nathan is smiling down on his family and friends. His memory will live on forever. To the Seiter family, we are praying for you during this difficult time and pray that God will comfort you, especially during the upcoming holidays. God bless #22, Nathan Seiter! The Hunt family
I have so much respect for Nathan Seiter in all that he had achieved. Since back in grade school at St. Peter and Paul when his brother and I were good friends, and still are friends, I have enjoyed his presence and his mentoring on my life. I had always looked up to him. I will always remember the first dip I ever had, he gave me (LOL) and when he, Brad, and I would play some hoops, go fishing or golf together. And several generous rides to a basketball game, particularly the one he gave me last year when it snowed really bad and there was two inches of ice on the road. His caring for other people was unbelievable. Another instance was when he played with some of the Kentucky Wildcat players at Bracken County High School and he had them all sign a hat for me which I wanted so bad. Those are just some of the few memories I have of Big Nate and that I will Cherish forever. He has touched many people's lives and he has meant so much to all of us, especially some of your closest friends, Ryan Shelton and Mr. Dave Schabell. In Denial, I cannot seem to believe this has happened and I am very saddened by his death. His has been so nice, generous, and caring toward my family and I. People can see those qualities that he gives and all that he had put forth to make everyday good. Rest in peace. To the Seiter family you have our condolences, Kyle Uthe, Greg, Linda, Sarah, and Hannah
I'll always remember the days I would go watch my older brother play basketball. Nathan, as well, played two years with him, but even after he graduated, he was at every basketball game cheering on the team and for his brother, Justin. He will be there for you, Brad, at every game cheering for you and the team. He will always be remembered as a Mustang Legend. You are a role model on and off the court. My prayers are with you, Nathan, as well as your family and friends. Lisa Ruth
Nathan was the one person i looked up to when i was in grade school. I always wanted to get to highschool just so i could be like him. Although I never played basketball in highschool, once i got to know Nate better, he always gave me crap about not playing. He never missed a chance to say hello or to make you smile. As the videographer for the varsity team I always ran into him and talked to his parents. They are all the nicest people, and my sympathy goes out to them all. Brad stay strong, we are all here for you if you need some one to talk to. You are a great kid and fun to hang out with. Play your heart out for him. He's watchin over you! Make him proud, bud! We all love you and miss you! Kenny Sanker
From your flat-top days, beating Mariemont in 96, eating all your sister's cereal, winning the District in 97 to hangin' in the (Louis)ville I will never forget the great times we had together. Thanks for making me the player that I was and the person that I am. Ryan Horan
I was blessed to have such a wonderful friendship with Nathan. He was one of those people who came into my life and left a presence that will never fade away. No matter how long it had been since I saw him, we always picked up right where we left off. Nathan, I love you and will thank you always for the memories we have shared together. I always have held you in a special place in my heart - then, now and always. My prayers and thoughts are with Dave, Irmgard, Justin, Jessica and Bradley. Casey Bertke
While words are certainly inadequate at a time like this, I guess we still feel compelled to try to put our feelings into words. Our most heartfelt condolences to the Seiter family, because as bad as the rest of the Brossart family feels; I can barely imagine the emptiness felt by the family at this unimaginable time! Not being natives of the immediate area, where it seems everyone is either related or dates their friendships back to near-birth; we were pleasantly surprised by the warmth and friendliness of the entire community, and chief among them were the Seiters. Brad has since become somewhat an adopted member of the family, spending many an evening under our roof, and always conducting himself so politely. We were just getting to know Nathan better, having spent some quality time recently at Harrison County dissecting our basketball team; and seeing firsthand that his competitive spirit extended to cards as well. His love of all things Mustang was so passionate, and most of all, contagious!! If you spent any time with him, it was easy to see why his athletic career was so successful--He simply didn't seem to understand mediocrity--At Anything!! Despite his successes, he seemed to remain so real and down to earth, and I know he impressed the younger kids; that despite his icon status, he always had no only time, but a genuine interest in them. His kindness towards and acceptance of our son and his friends will always be appreciated and fondly remembered. To say he will be missed, seems so obvious, I hesitate to say the words. Someone might have summed it up best in one of the many tributes I've seen to Nathan--"This is as sad as it gets". Nathan exemplified everything that is right about high school athletics; and to those of you who were blessed enough to have played with, coached, rooted for, or just known him--it might be time to say "Thanks for the Memories"!! To the family, while much is being said about his basketball skills; I'm sure you'll miss your son & brother most, and know that we are praying for you to somehow find peace; and also know we are there if you need us. Even though it was far too short, try to remember the good times and the incredible ride that you were fortunate enough to share with him!! God Bless #22!! Frank, Kris, Bryan and Andrea Niemeyer
I had the distinct privelage of being Nathans first bass club parnter, the first year he was a member of Kincaid Bassmasters. Nathan came to the meeting with his good friends Ryan Shelton and cousin Jimmy Baker. He needed a partner for the upcoming season and another club memeber told him to ask me. I did not know Nathan at that time, but agreed to being my partner. Nathan didnt know much about fishing tournaments or fishing larger bodies of water. Most of his experience was on farm pounds and local creeks. From day 1 Nathan learned quickly, he became an outstanding angler as did his 2 friends, Ryan and Jimmy. Nathan, Ryan and Jimmy are all outstanding young men. It wasnt long before they achieved success in Kincaid Bassmaster( the largest bass club in the state of Kentucky). Nathan finished in the top 10, 2 out of the 4 years he fished the club. This is a testimeant to Nathans ability and dedication to all the sports he was involved in. Nathan never mentioned to me his success or praise his abilities on the basketball floor. In the 5 short years I have known him, I am only recently finding out about his abilities on the floor. This in itself should tell you about him. What I do know, is he was a great individual, he loved Kids, loved my son Hunter and spent hours helping him fish at Kincaid Bassmasters annual Kids fishing tournament. I considered him one of my closest friends and will greatly miss him. I will miss many things, such as our signals as to how many fish we had in the livewell, his sheepish grin when he knew he and Ryan(his best friend and club partner the last 2 years) had a big sack of fish. or the way he looked both ways and wispered what they were catching them on in practice. But what Ill miss the most is Nathan!! He will be missed by many but to few got to know this remarkable individual. Ill miss you Nathan. Richie Young
I met Nathan at work almost 3 years ago. He was ALWAYS smiling and not just with his mouth - you could see his smile in his eyes, too. He was very kind and a great listener. It is very frustrating that this happened to such a good person. To Nathan's family and friends, I am very sorry for your loss. I knew little about Nathan, but that's all it took to see that he was a very special human. ~Naomi Alley
Growing up playing against Nathan in grade school was always a formidable task. As defense assignments were passed out, I always had my fingers crossed not to draw the short straw. No such luck. Playing with Nathan Seiter during my high school career taught me a lot. One of the most important lessons I learned from Nathan was the true art of believing the unbelievable. Most every day for 2 years we practiced on the hardwood together and time and time again I would walk off the court shaking my head in disbelief. Until finally our senior year Nathan had me believing our wildest dreams could be achieved, all we had to do was achieve them and I had the priviledge of experiencing one of the best years of my life with Nathan leading the charge. I've never had so much confidence in one person as I had for Nathan Seiter. I'll never forget the memories. From then until now, Brossart's program has come along way. But whether he knew it or not what Nathan taught me was bigger than Brossart or basketball, in general, it was about life. Heroes get remembered, but legends never die. Nathan, in my eyes, you will always be a legend. As a former teammate and friend, my thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies go out to all the members of the Seiter family. Chris Hagedorn
To Nathan Seiter's Family and Friends, I met Nathan almost two years ago through his girlfriend Kim Glaza. Kim is my best friend and Nathan's love of his life. He loved Kim with all of his heart and was going to marry her one day and have a family. My prayers are with Kim and Nathan's wonderful family and friends. They are all blessings to Nathan and Nathan was a blessing to all that crossed his path and he will never be forgotten. Nathan, we love you so much and you were a blessing from God and I know you are with all of us giving us that wonderful smile of yours and giving us all the strength to get through your loss. God bless the Seiter Family and Kim Glaza! Nathan loved all of you so much and he is still with us! May God give you peace and strength to get through our tragic loss of a one of a kind Nathan Seiter. Love Always and God Bless All, Anna Miller Kenton County Public Works
Nathan had the smile to light up the room and the skill to light up a gym. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to know Nathan and experience his wonderful spirit. You will always hold a special place within every heart you have touched. Dave, Irmgard, Justin, Jessica and Brad, Nathan always gave the best hugs and he will forever have his arms around you. My prayers and deepest sympathies are extended to you. Ellen Schultz
If there is one word I would use to describe Nathan Seiter it would be heart. I grew up playing knothole baseball with Nate and the thing that always impressed me the most was not his incredible amount of talent, but just how bad he wanted to win and his ability to lift the rest of the team. Both on and off the field he was always the one to pick you up and carry you on his shoulders if he could. Nathan, thanks for showing me just how far you can go when you want something bad enough. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Seiter family during this difficult time. Jason Schwartz
I didn't know the basketball star that so many others have been writing about. I knew the young man who was mature in so many ways and yet still approached life through the eyes of a boy with hope and dreams. I appreciate the few short years that I have had the opportunity of knowing Nate. I will miss looking down toward the locker room door at Brossart games where he loved to watch the games, the Monday football/euchre nights where he would get on a hot streak and leave for work before we could win our money back, rabbit hunting down at my farm and so many other times. Basically I just miss having him here. It is because of "Tuber" I have added words and phrases into my every day vocabular such as "Duhhhhh!!!" and "GOOOOOOOOOH-Wad!!!!". My prayers go out to his parents (thank you so much for having a wonderful son), to the rest of his family, and to Kim- he loved you all so much. I thank God that I was lucky enough to know this remarkable person. I look forward to the day when I can see him again and he can fullfill the promise that he made to me to teach me how to make a great jumpshot. Ed Lovett
Never did I believe the little black-haired kid with the sweet left jumpshop would grow up to be such a great friend and important part of my life. Everything from Friday night softball leagues, hunting trips, golf trips, the all-night Monday Night Football Euchre games, "Toad baseball" at Bob's house, and of course Brossart basketball. I'll never forget the time we got the rental van "stuck" in a Chicago parking garage. I can go on forever. Your laughter was contagious as were many of your other traits. You took our ribbing well and dished it right back to us. We coined you with the nickname "Tuber" because of the spare inner-tube that grew around your waist after your playing days were over, and you just laughed evertime we would call you that. I will never forget your kindness and generosity. You helped me countless hours building my house and wanted nothing in return. I loved your company and will greatly miss you. Teddy Verst
"We talked all night about the rest of our lives, where we were going to be when we turned 25. I keep thinking times will never change... I keep on thinking it will always be the same.... As we go on, we remember all the times we had together. And as our lives change, come whatever, we will still be Friends Forever." -The graduation song. I miss you Nathan. I miss you so much. I am so lucky to have been on the floor cheering for you for those 4 short years. Over 120 games together and in your letter you said, "lets make our senior year the best " and without a doubt, we did. I'll never forget how I felt when you hugged me on the gym floor at Mason county. It was our last game at BBHS. We had come such a long way, and I wasn't ready for it to end. I have the notes we passed in high school, I have your yearbook messages, I have the pictures we took at dances, parties and then weddings. You were an incredible person and an incredible friend. I will never forget you. You will always be my Homecoming King. Heather Terhaar Spaw
Nathan Seiter was a true leader. Someone that people of all ages, young and old, looked up to. You wanted to be around Nathan, because you knew something special was in him. Whether you were on the opposing sideline, or kneeling on the on deck circle waiting for him to come through, It was always magical being around Nathan. Whenever Nathan took the Mound, or had the point, somehow you knew things were going to be a little bit easier. He played hard, every day. But Nathan wasn't just about sports. What I have learned from Nathan is truly invaluable. You lead by example, not by words. That is what I will always remember about Nate. He was the example. Thanks for all the memories kid!! You will be missed Nick Eberhard
Nate, The loss we feel for you is overwhelming, but our family will forever have so many cherished memories of the times we've all spent together. From taking you on your first trip to Keeneland at 3 months to watching you play basketball through the years, all the family get togethers, Seiterfests and vacations and our last time together with you Thanksgiving. Reading all the tributes and talking with so many people whose lives you have touched tells us what we have always known - what a special person you were. It has and will continue to be an honor to tell people you are our nephew. We love you and you're forever in our hearts, Aunt Con and Uncle Steve
I never knew Nathan well, but my brother did. Anyone who knew him was blessed. I just wish I could have gotten the opportunity to really know him like many others did. He is a true hero- not only in sports, but as a person. I believe he will always be watching over his family and friends, especially Brad. He'll be at every game to cheer you on. Just remember that no matter what happens, he'll be there for you. -Kairee Franzen
Nathan was a special kind of person. He had such a magnetic personality that everyone wanted to be around him. I've never seen anyone have that type of aura about him. He was so good at everything he did, it was unbelievable. Thus, the countless stories of his legendary games. When he could make it to our Holy Name Baseball games at Sts. Peter and Paul, we were instantly a better team. His bat was so good, it was amazing! He always had a story to tell us about hunting or fishing. There was even that night that he and Matt Seyfried pulled up our driveway at 12:30 a.m. to ask if he could park there while going frog-gigging in the pond over the hill. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Seiter family during this tragic time. We have lost a great friend and member of our community. Matthew and Carla Martin
To the Family and Friends of Nathan Seiter I met Nathan for the first time a couple of years ago through his brother, Brad. I didnt get to really talk to him that much, but he was always so nice and caring. Every time I was with Brad people would come up and talk about Nathan and how he was doing and everything i heard from other people was alround an amazing person and athlete. My thought and prayers are with the Seiter family. Brad, stay strong and always remember he is watching over you and will always be with you. God Bless, Stephanie Smith
