Mustang Legends
The Most Prolific Front-court Duo In The History of the Program
Drew Burns and Alex Trentman
For three seasons, 2011-2014, Drew Burns and Alex
Trentman would dominate the Brossart Mustangs
front-court landscape.  Together they would score
2011 points, pull down 1001 rebounds, shoot 58% from
the field (716-1234), block 118 shots and be a major
contributing part of teams that compiled a 69-19
win-loss record while recording three consecutive 20
game wins seasons.

Alex Trentman was also the leading scorer on the
2010-11 Freshmen Team that went 26-1, were 37th
District and 10th Region Champions.  Drew Burns
played Junior Varsity basketball his freshman year.

Trentman set a new school record for consecutive
double-figure performances with 30, spanning over the
course of his junior and senior seasons.
Drew Burns stood 6'6" his
senior season and weighed in at
205 pounds.
Alex Trentman stood 6'6" his senior
season and weighed in at
190 pounds.
Drew Burns' dad, Andy Burns played his high school
basketball at Walton-Verona High School and his college
basketball (1981-85) at NKU where he was a 6'8" Center.
During their freshmen seasons, Trentman started for
the 10th Region Champion, 26-1, Mustang Freshmen,
while Drew Burns played exclusively Junior Varsity
basketball alongside of Erik Rieger who was also
"moved up."  Burns was the third leading scorer on
that team, with a 6.9ppg average, that went 11-8 and
won the 37th District championship.    Both saw very
limited varsity action.
The following season both played primarily JV ball as
their team posted a 16-3 mark and repeated as 37th
District champions.  Trentman was the leading scorer
averaging 10.1 ppg and Burns was next with a 9.1
mark.   Both Drew and Alex saw significant varsity
action and factored in all 28 games.  It was during
that season that younger brother Alex had the
privilege of playing varsity ball on the same court as
his older brother Austin.    Alex averaged 6.7 ppg that
year while putting up 187 points.  Drew Burns
averaged 4.8ppg and contributed 133 points.
For the next two years Burns and Trentman held
down key varsity starting positions.
During their 2012-13 junior season the team went
26-6 winning the 10th Region All "A" Classic and
went on to play into the "A" State Semi-Finals.
They won the 37th District Tournament and
advancing to the 10th Region Semi-Finals.
Burns and Trentman were second and third only
to Justin Saunders during that junior season,
averaging 11.0 and 12.8ppg respectively.

Both were named to the 10th Region "A"
All-Tournament team, 37th District All-Tournament
team and were All-NKBBCA.  Trentman was
named 1st Team All-Region, while Burns was
tabbed All-Region Honorable Mention.
Between their junior and senior seasons both
played with the NoKyJazz where they competed
in both the Super Showcase and AAU Nationals in
Orlando, Florida.  The team was coached by Kevin
Bundy.
Drew and Alex dominated the scoring column their senior season.  Trentman
scored a whopping 549 points (19.6 ppg), scoring double-figures in all 28
games, a school record, earning him a spot in the Bishop Brossart 1,000
Points Club with a career total 1137 points - 11th best all-time.  In addition,
Alex would set school records for both 2-point (65.3%) and 3-Point (48.9%)
percentages.  He also managed a stellar 73% from the charity stripe.

Drew Burns amassed 380 points his senior season for a 13.6ppg.  He too shot
a blistering percentage from the field, hitting on 58.4% of his attempts.  The
two also dominated the boards, pulling down 425 rebounds on the season.
Burns led the team in "charges taken" with 16.  Drew ended his career as the
Mustangs 26th among all-time leading scorers with 874 points.
Trentman and Burns owe much of their success to their
senior teammates - (L-R) Jake Jennings, Austin Shannon,
Erik Rieger, Ted MacDonald, along with Drew Burns and
Alex Trentman.   Junior Spencer Hackworth was the fifth
starter with the group.
On Tuesday, January 21st,
Alex Trentman became the
17th member of the Brossart
Mustangs 1,000 Points Club.
The Mustangs defeated Campbell
County in the Crosstown Classic,
after winning the Henry County
Invitaitonal Tournament over the
holidays.  They were again 10th
Region "A" Champs but were upset
by Campbell County in the District
Finals and were dispatched by
Montgomery County in the 10th
Region Tournament.  They finished
their season with a 23-5 mark.  They
presented Coach Mike Code with his
200th career victory on February
14th against the Scott Eagles.

The accolades again poured in.
Drew and Alex were once again,
All-10th "A" Tournament, All-37th
District Tournament, All-NKBBCA,
and both were 1st Team - All
Region.   Trentman was tabbed to the
ENKY All-Star 1st Team, Burns was
named to the 2nd Team.
After being recuited extensively throughout their
senior seasons, on Tuesday, April 29th, 2014

Drew Burns signed to play his collegiate
basketball with Centre College
where he played quality minutes as a freshman for
the Colonels.

Alex Trentman signed on with the Christian
Brothers University Buccaneers
where he would red-shirt his freshman season.
