| Some are fights that can’t be won Only fought so long Even when his time was up He continued to fight strong This boy went against all odds A long long time ago When doctors said there’s nothing left He redefined our hope With courage and bravery he woke up And smiled at each day Knowing he was cheating death Kept him on his way Our hope faith became surreal When seeing what he’d done Our lives became a fantasy And no one could be harmed Though he was wounded and hurting He was still not harmed He still had so much love to give He still showed us his charm Everyday at suppertime We awaited the news So, Brett, how is Grant today Reluctantly, not good Our smiles did not fade away And let me tell you why His accomplishments could not be matched And none could match our pride |
| Though he was not family And barely even known All of our prayers turned to him Our love and faith had grown I will not let my faith fall down And accompany my tears For they will be washed away In memory of better years I’ll hold my faith and all I know For it says he’s in good hands For these are bound by no restraints He’s in my Daddy’s hands He now may stand in all his glory As he watches from above And though he was a small town boy This whole town offers love On the outside we can’t imagine How bad this loss is To lose a child is one thing But he was more than this A mere human would give up And just throw in the towel He continued to fight the odds And not take it lying down That’s what lets me rest assured That in this one great loss There was an even greater gain He’s working for my Boss As an angel he will be Forever ‘til we meet And in that day of reckoning We’ll fly on angels’ wings |
