Come play for championships!  So goes the company line on all of our promotional materials.
Last night the Brossart Mustangs won another championship.  By defeating St. Patrick,
Russell, Bracken County, and Lewis County, the Mustangs are champions of the 2008 First
National Bank Holiday Tournament at Bracken
County High School.
While it may not be our most notable championship, it was the challenge that this team was
presented and they responded by getting the job done.  The team played with confidence during
this tournament, got showcase performances by many individual players, and displayed the
benefits of the hours spent in the weight-room, by finishing repeatedly through contact during
this event.
On Tuesday night the Brossart Mustangs fell behind early 7-4 and trailed 16-15 after the first
quarter.
The Mustangs defense kicked in the second period, sytmieing the Lions' offensive output to
allow only five points, as the Mustangs took charge and began to draw off 30-21 at the half.
The Mustangs extended their lead to 42-29 after three quarters and went on to win by twenty
56-36 when the final horn sounded.
Jacob Rieger, who would have undoubtedly been the tournament MVP should such an award
have been given, led the Mustangs, along with Drew Kremer, who is beginning to realize his
potential, with 14 points apiece.
Joey Webb knocked  down three 3's enroute to an 11 point outing.  Jordan Armstrong and
Mitch Patterson each scored 7 points apiece, including a 3-ball each.
With the win, the Mustangs improve to 9-1 on the season, will take New Years Eve off,
practice on Thursday at 11am, and take on Pendleton County in the opening round of the
Mason County Invitational Tournament (MCIT) at 8pm on Friday night in the Mason County
Fieldhouse.

The final official order of finish in the BCHT  -  Brossart 1st, Lewis County 2nd,
Fleming County 3rd, St. Patrick 4th, Harrison County 5th, Bracken County 6th, Augusta 7th,
