Put 10 Players In The Scoring Column Enroute To 54-30 Win Over Simon Kenton |
| The Brossart Freshmen Mustangs lived up to their pre-season billing, tipping off the 2008-09 basketball season in fine form, defeating the visiting Simon Kenton Pioneers 54-30 on Monday night in the SyDome.
Our two football Mustangs, Spencer Brown and Matt Kramer showed that their experiences on the gridiron were beneficial, as they combined for 18 points to lead the ten Mustangs who put ink in the scorebook. Brown led the charge with 10 points and Kramer added 8. Both Brown and Kramer came from off of the bench last night. Brossart jumped out to a 13-5 first quarter lead, led by a Jared Hahn 3, a pair of buckets by Austin Trentman and Spencer Brown, and a basket by Austin Hinkel. The Stangs salted it away by halftime, putting up another 13 points in the second frame, while holding the Pioneers to 7, giving the Mustang greeenies a comfortable 26-12 cushion at intermission. Trevor Bezold put five points on the board in the second period, with a long-range bomb and a traditional bucket. Logan Kramer and Austin Trentman both tacked on a bucket apiece and Matt Kramer added a pair to free-throws and a field-goal putting their team in good stead at the half. Brossart upped its quarterly offensive output to 15 in the thrid period while holding their 6-A counterparts to 5, making it a 41-17 advantage, and the Mustangs cruised to the 54-30 opening night victory. |
