| Never, ever, underestimate the resolve of the Brossart Mustangs! Tremendous effort by our guys today over a more experienced, more athletic, Lexington Christian Eagles ball team. In the first fifty-one seconds of the game, we turned the ball over four times, but the Eagles couldn't capatilize, and when Joey Webb drained his first of four 3-point goals with 5:26 to play in the first quarter, we trailed 7-3, but had gotten the "big game" jitters out, and from that point on, played a masterful ballgame. At the end of the first quarter the Stangs trailed 13-10 and at the 5:41 mark in the second period tied the game at 13. LexChristian then went on a 5-0 run, but another Joey Webb home run and one by Zach Hertzenberg and we were back to within one at 20-19. Lex Christian led 24-20 at intermission. |

| Shortly after the onset of the second half, the Mustangs fell behind 29-20 and it appeared as though LexChristian was about to live up to their billing, but a three point play by Greg Stortz, a pair of Jacob Rieger buckets, a Joey Webb 3-ball, another Greg Stortz basket and we had a new leader with the Mustangs on top 33-32, for our first lead of the game. The Eagles rebounded to take a 38-35 lead at the end of three quarters. We would manage only four Jordan Armstrong free-throws for the first five plus minutes of the fourth quarter, until Webb connected on his fourth bomb making it 45-42 Eagles, which soon became 49-42 with only 1:11 to play in the game. Drumroll! Brossart was about to embark upon a 13-2 run, that would include a Jordan Armstrong blue-collar basket and two Mitch Patterson threes with the game on the line, A pair of Jacob Rieger free-throws put the icing on the cake and sent Lexington Christian home and kept the Mustangs in Richmond for a 6:30pm appointment with University Heights, 76-50 winners over St. Henry, in the quarterfinals on Friday |
