Corey Sorrell Explodes For 31 Points, Giwa Tacks On 14, As Holy Cross Completes Sweep
With Wins Over Our Freshmen 35-27 and  JVs 46-40
Corey Sorrell tacked on 31 ponints on to his plus 1,000 career points total in
leading the Holy Cross Indians to a homestanding 61-46 NKAC Divison II game
vs our Brossart Mustangs on Tuesday night in Latonia.  Shina Giwa added 14
points as he and Sorrell combined for 45 of their team's 61 points.
Giwa put up 7 points in the first period to pace the Indians to a 15-8 advantage
after 8 minutes of play.  Sorrell took over in the second stanza with 12 points,
hitting four field-goals and going 4 of 4 from the foul line as his Indians took a
31-22 lead to the locker room at halftime.  
Holy Cross went on a 12-1 run to start the third period, increasing their lead to
46-30 after three periods, and for all intents and purposes, claim the Mustangs'
Brossart outscored the Injuns 16-15 in the fourth period to make the final - 61-46.
In addition to his 14 points, Giwa forced numerous Mustangs turnovers with his
tenacious man-to-man defense of our point guards.
Our PNC Player of the Game - Greg Stortz, led the Mustangs with 11 points.
Drew Kremer and Jacob Rieger contributed 7 apiece.
Holy Cross improves to a very deceiving 7-8 on the year and 3-1 in the
conference race, while Brossart falls to .500 at 8-8 and 1-3 against NKAC
Division II competition.
Brossart will head to Maysville on Thursday night to take on St. Patrick in the
"Cloverdome" while Holy Cross will host the Covington Catholic Colonels on Friday.

Coach Bob Rowe continues to search for the magic that seems to
have escaped from his magic wand this season, as his JVs lost yet
another tough battle 46-40 to the Holy Cross Indians.
In a game of momentum swings, the Indians had the last one.  The
two teams battled to an 8-8 stalemate after a quarter and the Brossart
Mustangs took a 18-15 lead at halftime.
The Mustangs were outscored 10-0 out of the locker-room and
forced to fight back from a 25-15 deficit and found themselves
trailing 30-27 at the end of the third quarter of play.
Brossart overtook the Tribe at 34-30 with 4:40 to go in the game but
Holy  Cross was up to the task, outscoring our Stangs 16-13 in the
final eight minutes, to prevail 46-40 as the JV Mustangs drop  their
seventh consecutive decision and fall to 1-3 in NKAC Division II
Nick Hanneken and Brian Wolfer combined for 27 of the Mustangs'
40 points, with Hanneken checking in with 15 and Wolfer 12 on the
night.  Hanneken also connected on 3 long range 3-point goals.

The Freshmen Mustangs' four game win streak came to an end as the Mustangs lost to the Holy Cross Indians for the
second time in less than three weeks as our guys fell behind early at 15-6 in the first period and never recovered, dropping a
35-27 decision.  Nick Hamberg led the Mustangs with 8 points.
