The Brossart Mustangs continued on a northeastern path
Friday night, getting double figure offensive performances
from Mitch Patterson, Jacob Rieger, Joey Webb, and Greg
Stortz in defeating the visiting Augusta Panters 65-44.
While the offensive output of the Mustangs
drew the headlines today, it was the defensive
efforts of the ballclub, that is directly

The Mustangs continued to show poise and
maturity in competing with the explosive
offensive intentions of the Augusta Panthers
who prefer an uptempo style game and try to
simply outscore you.  The Stangs limited the
Panthers to merely 44 points on the night, the
third lowest total point output by guys from
A-Town in twenty-four outings this season.
Following a 17-16 fast-paced first period that
saw both Webb and Patterson drop two
long-range bombs on the Panthers, the
Mustangs defense heated up in the second
period, limiting the visitors to only seven points
as the Stangs
opened up a 29-23 advantage at intermission.
Brossart exploded for 22 points out of the
locker room to increase our advantage to
51-38 after three periods, and then limited the
Panthers to a sum total of three field goals in
the fourth quarter as the Mustangs won their
fourteeth game of the season.
Mitch Patterson painted a Ken Shields
Picasso on both ends of the floor, scoring 18
points on the night, including a pair of
3-Pointers while doing a masterful job of
quarterbacking the ballclub and d-ing up the
Panther guards.
Sophomore Jacob Rieger turned in a
blue-collar effort in battling Augusta's Dustin
"Shooty" Staggs and scoring 16 points himself, as well as connecting on 6 of 8 from
the charity stripe.  Joey Webb and Greg Stortz put up a dozen apiece and Webb
added two more long range bombs bringing his season total to 49 three-point
Augusta was led by the hard-working senior post-player, Dustin Staggs, who put
up 18 points on the night, with 10 of those coming in the third quarter.

of 12 in return.
