St. Pat's prevailed 65-64 back in the Bracken County Holiday Classic. Tonight in the "Cloverdome" St. Patrick jumped out to a 12-7 first quarter lead, but Brossart battled back to tie it up at 20 with 3:23 to play in the half. The score was again tied at 22, and then at 26, before the homestanding Saints managed a two-point 29-27 advantage at halftime. The third quarter was more of the same as the two teams experienced two ties and five consecutive lead changes before St. Pat's broke open a 35-35 tie at the 4:40 mark and expanded their lead to 44-38 heading into the fourth quarter. The Saints were able to maintain that margain throughout the final stanza, as Nick Anderson scored 9 of his 15 points, to record their 14th win of the season, against 5 losses. Greg Stortz and Jacob Rieger led the Mustangs assault with 13 points apiece, and Drew Kremer contributed 8 in the losing effort. Both teams connected on 21 field-goals, but St. Pats went to the free-throw line 27 times (18/27) compared to our 12 (8/12) and won the war on the boards nearly 2 to 1.
