Mustang Defense Limits Polar Bears To Six First Half Points
Kidney, Cooper, and Uebel Named To
All-Tournament Team
Luke Rebholz Receives Team Academic Award
The Brossart Mustangs inflicted some of the defensive domination on the Bracken County Polar Bears that Montgomery County and Campbell County experienced back in the MCIT earlier this month.
After Tyler Hamilton scored the first basket of the game to put the Polar Bears on top 2-0, the home team would be shut out in the field goal department for the remainder of the half as the Mustangs built an insurmountable 29-6 lead by halftime.
Bracken County did battle back, outscoring the Stangs 16-9 in the third period to close the gap to 36-22, but that was about as close as the Bears would come on this night as the Mustangs went on to win their fifth straight 10th Region All "A" Championship 51-29.
Josh Kidney, Troy Cooper, and Jimmy Uebel were named to the All-Tournament team.  Luke Rebholz was recipient of the Mustangs academic award.
The Mustangs will take on local rival NCC at 9am on Thursday morning in McBreyer Arena on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University in the opening game of the 2007 Touchstone Energy All "A" State Tournament.
NCC earned the 9th Region All "A" title by defeating St. Henry 66-54.
