As expected, the Brossart Mustangs dispatched the 7-12 St. Patrick Saints in the finals of the 10th Region All A Classic Championship Game 60-28 that saw the Mustangs JVs play the entire fourth quarter. For the three regional tournament games the Mustangs outscored their three opponents 196-99 and will now make plans for their fourth consecutive trip to Richmond to represent the 10th Region in next week's Touchstone Energy All "A" State Tournament in McBreyer arena where we will face Lee County out of Region Number 14 at 9:30pm (or later) Thursday night.
Brossart established a 13-6 lead after a period on the heels of six first quarter points from Mustang big man, Troy Cooper, who would go on to lead all scorers with twenty points.
St. Patrick hung in gamely dropping the second quarter 19-13 and falling behind 32-19 at the half.  Brossart put up another of their patented dominant third quarters, outscoring the Saints 18-4, putting the game out of reach and bringing on the JVs with a 50-23 lead.
Troy Cooper and Nathan Mutsch combined for 30 points, with twenty and eleven respectively for the game and eight apiece in the third quarter.
I hope that our fan base picked up on the fact that the Mustangs waived their option of cutting the nets down for winning the 10th Region Champion tournament as the three seniors decided that the nets would remain hanging in the Middle School in an effort to focus upon climbing the ladder last Sunday afternoon next Sunday in Richmond.
Nick Anderson led the St. Patrick Saints with 12 points.
Adam Franzen, Jimmy Uebel, and Troy Cooper were named to the All-Tournament Team while Luke Rebholz was the recipient of our All-Academic award.
