Mustangs Season Ends At Hands Of Mason County Royals 50-45
In Game Of Momentum Swings
Stangs Lead By As Many As Eight in First Half
Trail By As Many As 11 in Fourth Quarter
Troy Cooper Leads Mustangs in 05-06 Finale With 19
The Brossart Mustangs season came to an end last night at the hands of the Mason County Royals 50-45 in a game that the Mustangs led by as many as eight (16-8, 18-10, and 20-12) in the first half before falling behind 23-25 at
the half.

The Mustangs could muster only seven points in the third period as momentum switched to a Blue uniform and the Royals went out on top by seven (23-30 and 25-32) before the Mustangs re-rallied and cut the Royals lead to two at 30-32 before the Royals pushed back out to a seven point lead at 30-37 after three quarters.

The Royals attempted to blow it open when they extended their lead to eleven at 30-41.  The Mustangs would make one more run outscoring the home team 10-2 making it a 40-43 ballgame with 5:01 to go in the game.  The margain would be cut to two at 45-47 with 1:49 left and three at 45-48 with :28:5 but that was as close as we would come.

The Mustangs were victimized again tonight by our inability to connect of shots from the field with consistency, turnovers on passes into the post resulting in missed scoring opportunities, and at times simply failing to pass and catch the ball successfully.  Credit the Mason County defense on placing a high degree of difficulty to all of the above and holding us to 45 points for the contest.

Troy Cooper led all scorers with 19 points, Nathan Mutsch added 10, Brad Seiter bowed out with 7, Jimmy Uebel scored 6, and Josh Kidney 3.

Darius Miller again showed why he might be the top sophomore in the state by scoring 18 points and freshman Russ Middleton put up 11 points and the Royals lone senior Micah Turner scored 13 in the winning effort. Miller and Turner combined for 21 of their 31 points in the second half.

The Royals improve to 23-8 and the Mustangs close the book on the 2005-06 season at 19-12.

Box Score:  Kidney 0-1-0/0-3, Seiter 2-0-3/6-7, Uebel 3-0-0/0-6,
                   Mutsch 2-2-0/0-10, Cooper 8-0-3/3-19

   Total Mustangs:  15-3-  6/9 -45       19-12
   Total Royals:      18-1-11/13-50       23-8
