Mustangs Shatter
Lee County's Dream
Advance To Quarterfinals
With 68-49 Win
Cooper and Mutsch Combine For 35 Points,
16 Rebounds
The Mustangs laid a little run, gun, throw it into the post, and have fun on the Lee County Bobcats, the hopes of the 14th Region, as Mustang big men Troy Cooper and Nathan Mutsch combined for 35 points and 16 rebounds.  Cooper was named the game's MVP, but Mutsch could have well shared the honor.
Early on it looked like we might blow the game open quickly as the Mustangs established a 9-0 lead before the fans were settled into their seats, but the Lee County Bobcats did not come this far by rolling over and playing dead.  By the 2:41 point in the first quarter the Cats had clawed their way back into it 13-10, before the Stangs re-established their supremecy and sprinted off to a 21-12 lead at the end of one.
The Mustangs stalled out in the second period, going over three minutes without a score allowing the Cats to close to 23-16 before awakening with a 7-3 run to send the Stangs to the locker room on top 30-19.
Mustangs big men Mutsch and Cooper dominated play in a 30 point Mustang third quarter, (did Jimmy Uebel say that these aren't your father's Mustangs???) putting 19 of those 30 on the board themselves, blowing the game open at 60-36 and from that point on it was only a matter of how much.
Mutsch finished the night with 17 points and 8 boards (seemed like more) and Cooper put up 18 points and pulled down 8 rebounds.  Jimmy Uebel was the third Mustang double-figure scorer with 15 as the Mustangs completed the fourth step in their seven step program to win the 2006 Touchstone Energy All "A" State Championship.
The Mustangs will face the Barbourville Tigers, 68-56 wiinners over Russellville, tonight in the late shift game scheduled to go at 9:30pm, with a more realistic start time expected to be slightly after 10pm. The Tigers are riding a 12 game win streak.
