Mustangs Go On A 26-0 Second Half Run To Blitz Lloyd 66-37 December 2, 2005
The Brossart Mustangs opened the season in fine fashion Friday night defeating NKAC Division II foe Erlanger Lloyd 66-37. The Stangs ran out to a quick 11-1 lead prior to the end of the first period which ended with the good guys on top 15-7. Mustang defensive pressure would hold the Juggs to 18 in the first half as the guys in green took a 31-18 lead to the locker room at halftime. The home team threatened to make a game of it by scoring two goals in succession to open the second half, cutting the Mustang lead to 31-22 and triggering a quick time out by head coach Mike Code. This turned out to be an extremely effective time out as the Mustangs would outscore the Juggs 28-2 for the remainder of the quarter to take a

commanding 59-24 lead after three periods to put all thoughts of a Lloyd victory on this night to rest. The Stangs would slug it out in the fourth quarter with primarily the JVs on the floor as sophomore Greg Stortz scored his first varsity points, as the Mustangs beat the homestanding Juggs 66-37. Troy Cooper was absolutely un-stopable in the paint, leading the Mustangs with 19 points. Jimmy Uebel produced 15 points on 10/11 free throw shooting, and six other Mustangs contributed to our scoring effort. The Mustangs will return home to take on St. Henry in a non-conference battle on Tuesday night and head into the Cross-Town Classic next Friday night with the Camels.

JVs Win In 48-22 Romp Over JV Juggs
Counting the ten victories at Embry-Riddle camp during the summer of 2004, Coach Bob Rowe's JVs notched their 38th straight victory, a 48-22 romp over the NKAC Division II Lloyd Juggernauts in the Friday night prelim game. Newcomer Junior Matthew Hansman (pictured) dispersed with the settling in period and went right to work emerging as the JV's leading scorer with 11 points on the night.
Bryan Niemeyer had a big second half, finishing the night with 10 points as the Mustangs opened a 9-1 first quarter lead and never looked back in this one. The JVs welcomed back Matt Lloyd to their lineup. Matt was finally cleared to practice and play this week. Unfortunately, Luke Rebholz took his place on the injured list and is out nursing a sprained ankle.
