| Mustangs Take Care Of Business Vs Calvary Make First Step In All "A" Journey With 69-33 Win Uebel Shoots The Lights Out - Connects on Four First Half 3's Kyle Lubbers Entertains The Crowd With 13 Points. JVs Win Eleventh Game of the Season 44-17 |
| The Brossart Mustangs took what we hope is the first step on a seven step quest for an All "A" State Championship by defeating our opening round opponent Calvary Christian 69-33. Brossart opened up a 14-6 lead against the Calvary Christian Cougar 2-3 zone and three second quarter Jimmy Uebel atom bombs dispelled any thoughts the Cougars had of advancing beyond the first round. The Mustangs led 34-12 at the half and 55-18 after three periods, when the Mustang JVs came on to finish out the contest which ended with the Stangs winning out 69-33. Kyle Lubbers put on a show for the crowd when he came up with a steal and shed his defender with a spin move resulting in a layup which brought |
| the crowd to its feet. Lubbers performed an encore performance shortly thereafter as the recipient of a Kyle Kramer lob and stuck it home. Lubbers and Uebel shared scoring honors with 13 points each, Troy Cooper added 12, Brad Seiter put up 8, Bryan Niemeyer came from off the bench to score 7, Nathan Mutsch tacked on 5, Josh Kidney and Greg Stortz delivered 4 each and Matt Hansman rounded out the scoring with 3. Mark Bamforth led the Cougars with 12 points. The Mustangs improve to 11-5 on the season. The Mustangs will face Silver Grove at 8pm on Friday night in the 10th Region "A" Semi-finals at the Campbell County Middle School. St. Patrick will play Bracken County for the other finals berth at 6:30pm.
