Mustangs Walk-Off in 5-4 Win Over Scott in District Seeding Tilt
Junior Ian Frank singled home Keegan Gulley in the bottom of the ninth inning to put the Mustangs one up in the 37th District Seeding Race Monday evening at St. Mary. Ben Volmer went eight innings on the mound, allowing 4 runs and 5 hits. Alex Noe came on in the top of the ninth, allowing a single hit to earn the victory. Keegan had another hot bat in this one going 3 for 4 with a run scored, which was the game winner. Ben Doyle was 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI.
Brossart trailed the Eagles 4-1 through four innings, before plating three runs in the home half of the sixth inning to knot the score that would send the game to extras. The district seeding race will continue on Monday April 29th at Campbell County, and again on Monday, May 6th when we play Calvary Christian in Taylor Mill In the meantime we will be back in action Wednesday when we visit Newport Stadium for a conference game with Newport, in attempt to get back to .500, go to Pendleton County on Thursday, and we will host Ryle on Friday.
BRACKEN COUNTY CONTINUES DOMINANCE OF OUR LADY ‘STANGS ON MONDAY IN A 15-0 RUN-RULE LOSS
Bracken County “piles on” with a 15-0 run-rule win over our Lady ‘Stangs , who have dropped 7 of our last 8 outings. We fell 8-0 to the Lady Bears back on April 13th in an All “A” Classic contest. Campbell County will come to call at the City Park on Wednesday in a district seeding event.

Season in Review - At the Halfway Point
At the halfway point of our baseball season we find out team at 7-9. We are 2-3 in NKAC Division II Conference Play. As of yet we have not played a 37th District Seeding contest. In four one run decisions we have won three of them and lost once, and have won our only extra-innings event. Fifteen different players have competed in a varsity game. Brandon Burkhardt has pitched the most innings (19.0). He is 1-1 and has an ERA of 4.42. Ben Volmer has hurled 18.1 frames. He is 1-3 with an ERA of 6.87. Max Keller has thrown 14.2 innings with a 2-3 Record. Alex Noe has recorded 12.1 innings with a 1-2 record and a stingy 1.70 ERA. Luke Bertsch has thrown 12 innings. He is 1-0 with 2 Saves and an ERA of 2.92. Isaac Amin is 1-0 in 8.1 innings with an ERA of 2.21. Nate Geiman, Ben Doyle, Alex Amin, and Keegan Gulley have also done mound duty but have no record. The second half of our season gets underway on Monday when we host Scott in our first 37th District Seeding battle.
At the plate Ben Doyle leads all Mustangs hitters with a .378 batting average. Alex Amin (.354), Ben Volmer (.351), Isaac Amin (.327), and Luke Bertsch (.311), Brandon Burkhardt (.308), and Will Wyrik (.300), are all hitting over .300.
Ben Volmer leads the teams in doubles with 5. Alex Amin has 4 of them and Isaac Amin 3. Alex Amin and Keegan Gulley each have a triple, and Alex Amin leas the team with a pair of home runs. Keegan Gulley and Ben Volmer have one round-tripper each. Alex Amin and Ben Doyle share RBIs honors with 16 each. Keegan Gulley is in third place with 11. Isaac Amin leads the team in Runs Scored with 17. Ben Doyle has crossed the plate on 12 occasions, and Luke Bertsch 10.
As a team we are hitting (128-438) .288, with 20 Doubles 2 Triples, and 3 Home Runs. We have taken 27 walks and whiffed on 113 occasions. We have also been hit by 19 pitches, with Luke Bertsch leading this category by getting plunked 7 times. Ben Doyle leads the team in Stolen Bases with 6 thefts.
